About Swedish Wind Energy

Swedish Wind Energy now has about 145 member companies. Our members include power companies, municipally-owned energy companies, project planners, financial investors, banks, legal firms, consulting firms and a whole range of suppliers.

Swedish Wind Energy will act as the central hub on wind power issues. Our main aim is to promote the development of the market for wind power in Sweden, so that wind power is developed to its full potential and contributes to long-term sustainability for Sweden.

As the national trade association, Swedish Wind Energy looks after the financial interests of its members by acting as the collective voice of the industry in society. We act as the central hub on wind power issues, for all our members and other stakeholders, and this helps us stimulate interest in wind power.

Swedish Wind Energy's main aim is to promote the development of the market for wind power in Sweden. Our goal is to make sure that wind power is developed to its full potential and contributes to long-term sustainability for Sweden.

Overall focus of our operations in 2010

Swedish Wind Energy's general overall objective for 2010 is, to the best of its ability, to persuade various decision-makers to adopt the trade association's position in the following areas.

The permit process

Work to remove the municipalities "right of veto" in permit matters and replace it with a solution which is acceptable and legally secure for both municipalities and the wind power industry.

Work to ensure that municipalities receive a financial return from the establishment of wind power, without this having a negative financial impact on the project.

Work to achieve a simpler and faster permit process for the expansion of networks at all voltage levels.

Financial frameworks

Work to establish a long-term, effective support system for the expansion of wind power in Sweden.

Encourage the government to move quickly to create opportunities for profitable investment in offshore wind power.

Work for an expansion of transfer capacity of electricity to other countries.

Work to remove, as far as possible, any negative consequences of Sweden being divided into different pricing areas.

Technology

Enter into dialogue aimed at preventing radar, network issues and obstacle markings on wind turbines becoming a technical or financial obstacle to further expansion of wind power in Sweden.

Logistics and transports

Work to ensure that transports by road, sea and rail can be executed at an acceptable cost, in a safe manner and within an acceptable timeframe.

Opinion and acceptance

Work for continued shareholding by private individuals in wind turbines on financially-acceptable terms.

Participate in the public debate with the aim of improving understanding of wind power and the work of the trade organisation.
